An enhanced version of one of most powerful Legendary Pokemon of all time is coming to Shadow Raids in Pokemon Go, as the mighty Shadow Ho-Oh is appearing during the Dual Destiny season.
The Fire/Flying-type Pokemon took a huge hit in the mainline series, when Stealth Rock obliterated their competitive viability with x4 Weakness. Luckily, Stealh Rock isn’t a menace in Pokemon Go, so Pokemon like Ho-Oh are free to cause havoc.

The Dual Destiny season of Pokemon Go will be featuring a corrupted version of the fiery bird of Johto. A post on the official Pokemon Go website has confirmed that Shadow Ho-Oh is coming to Shadow Raids.
Shadow Ho-Oh Needs To Be Rescued In Pokemon Go
Shadow Ho-Oh will appear in Shadow Raids from Sunday, January 19, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. This means players will only have a few hours to nab this Legendary bird.
When Shadow Ho-Oh appears in Pokemon Go, the following benefits will be applied:
- Up to five additional free Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs (for a total of seven).
- Increased chance of encountering Shiny Ho-Oh from Shadow Raids.
Not only can players capture a Shadow Ho-Oh, but they can teach it its most powerful move from the video games: Sacred Fire. A player who uses a Charged TM during the event can give Shadow Ho-Oh Sacred Fire, making it even more powerful.
