Summary

  • Call of Duty 2025 will feature six unique round-based maps, including post-WW2 New York and Dark Aether Space Station.
  • The new maps will offer intense survival horror experiences, such as navigating a decaying space station and battling through a volcanic Japanese temple.
  • Treyarch’s evolution of Zombies mode aims to deliver a more narrative-driven cinematic experience, pushing the boundaries of storytelling in the game.

Call of Duty 2025 Zombies mode takes you through the irradiated ruins of a Nazi-nuked New York, fighting off the undead in the shadow of a volcanic eruption, or surviving the horrors of deep space in a station lost to the Dark Aether.

A renowned leaker, Tom Henderson, via Game Insider, has revealed Treyarch’s plan to feature six fully-fledged round-based maps spread across Call of Duty 2025’s life cycle, and they sound just as wild.

Six New Call of Duty 2025 Zombies Maps Incoming

What’s really weird in these maps is how they sound. Take, for example, the post-WW2 New York, a twisted version of NYC polluted with radioactive urban wasteland.

Something close to Beheaded in Vanguard, but this new map could expand the idea, becoming a full-fledged survival horror experience with underground bunkers and eerie remnants of a lost civilization.

Another is the Dark Aether Space Station, which could be Tyerach’s other chance to fully realize the concept of a Moon 2.0. This decaying, otherworldly research station orbits a dying star, setting the stage for zero-gravity combat and mind-bending horror.

Two maps of Vietnam and Afghanistan are also reportedly in the works, reimagined for the undead apocalypse and potentially tying into Black Ops 2’s sequel storyline.

Return Of Original Fan-Favorite Call Of Duty: Warzone Release Date Confirmed

Activision has officially announced that April 3rd, Call of Duty: Warzone players will be able to drop onto the fan-favorite Verdansk map once again.

Another leaked map is the Japanese temple, an ancient sanctuary on the edge of destruction at the foot of an erupting volcano where the environment itself could be just as much an enemy as the zombies.

Lava flows force you to adapt on the fly, with bridges crumbling mid-sprint and safe zones constantly shifting as the mountain reshapes the terrain. The sky is choked with volcanic ash, and the entire sections of the temple are collapsing under the weight of violent tremors.

Lastly is the Massive TranZit-style map with interconnected locations and a sprawling environment. While specific details about the transportation mechanics remain under wraps, Black Ops 2’s original TranZit map utilized a bus to ferry players between areas like the Bus Depot, Farm, and Town.

If these leaks hold true, Zombies is about to evolve into a more narrative-driven cinematic experience and another of Treyarch’s attempts to push the boundaries.

The studio has consistently refined what zombies can be, from the noir aesthetic of Shadows of Evil to the dieselpunk themes of Origins.
