Summary

  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows tops the sales charts in March 2025, beating out other AAA games.
  • Despite controversy and delays, the game continues to do well, even with a less than perfect score average.
  • Ubisoft’s latest entry in the franchise battles scrutiny and controversy, making it a major win for the struggling publisher.

Earlier this month, we reported on how Assassin’s Creed Shadows has managed to beat expectations when it comes to sales, as it only trailed one game for the top crown of 2025.

Today, new info has surfaced confirming how Ubisoft’s latest entry in the franchise continues to defy expectations, and do well despite not having the greatest score average, and even after being delayed multiple times.

Impressive to see that Assassin’s Creed Shadows managed to stave off Monster Hunter Wilds and even WWE 2K25.

However, for the entire year, Monster Hunter Wilds is still top dog for now, though Ubisoft’s latest AAA game is inching closer. Rounding out the top five include Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, MLB The Show 25 and last year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Here’s the top 20 list of best-selling games of 2025 so far.

They also added auto-follow for mounts, improved PS5 Pro performance, and more.

While a big-budget, AAA game getting the top sales spot for the month might be unsurprising for most, Ubisoft’s AC Shadows has battled scrutiny and controversy for months. When you factor in Ubisoft’s current struggles and uncertainty within the company, this is a major win that the publisher desperately needs.

If you’re unsure whether to get the game or not, the good thing is, you don’t need to know anything about the franchise to enjoy it. Over on Open Critic, the game has amassed a solid 81 score average, and ended with a “Strong” score.
