With a reputation for immersive games and top-of-the-line storytelling, Larian Studios has given us a sneak-peak of how they work their magic. “Stories are our bread and butter”, says Vincke.
Over the years, Larian has evolved and changed the way they approach development, by creating the stories for future games in advance to stay ahead of the curve.
“In the past, we actually made them at the beginning of our production.” Vincke revealed that Larian Studios is “building a fairly large storytelling team” and is also experimenting with artificial intelligence, but says AI will not steal anyone’s job.
“Machine learning is an accelerator. It allows you to do things faster,” says Vincke, putting an emphasis on the growth of their team and how they will utilize AI to take care of the tasks nobody wants to do, so they can put their focus on the complexity and volume of their upcoming games.
“The amount of people we’re hiring is actually going up, not going down.”

Baldur’s Gate 3 Mod Is Recreating Iconic Dungeon From Baldur’s Gate 2
The upcoming Menzoberranzan mod for Baldur’s Gate 3 is planning on recreating the iconic Irenicus Lab opening dungeon from Baldur’s Gate 3.
It’s clear that the independent Belgian game developers have no plans on replacing jobs with AI, but will use it to their advantage so that their team can put all of their energy into creating the rich and immersive stories that gamers go crazy for. Even with huge advancements in AI, Vincke says, “It’s always going to be the people that are going to make the difference.”
With the release of a huge final update, which included 12 new subclasses, Baldur’s Gate 3 has enough replayability to last for years, and Larian looks ready to use that time wisely.
“We are in a position where we can craft multiple RPG’s side-by-side, so that we don’t have to worry about people going idle, because that’s actually the main reason why we’re doing multiple projects,” says Vincke.
