Summary

  • Diablo IV to feature a crossover with Berserk, an iconic manga franchise.
  • Crossover details unclear, likely to include cosmetics like Dragon Slayer sword.
  • Crossover may also come to Diablo Immortal.

Diablo IV’s roadmap just became a lot more exciting, as it’s going to be featuring a crossover with one, if not the greatest manga franchise of all time.

As a Blizzard franchise, Diablo has crossed over with other series owned by the company in the past, including Overwatch and StarCraft II. On rare occasions, it has dipped into other franchises, such as the Nintendo Switch version of Diablo III featuring content from The Legend of Zelda series, including a Cucco pet.

The 2025 roadmap for Diablo IV was looking pretty bare, even though it hinted that there would be crossovers with new IPs. The official Diablo Twitter/X account has confirmed that one of these crossovers is with Berserk, the dark fantasy manga/anime that has inspired numerous other video games, most notably Dark Souls.

The exact nature of the Berserk x Diablo IV crossover is unclear, as it only featured an animated video and was sparse on details. While the post tagged Diablo IV, the credit scene mentioned Android and iOS, which means the crossover could also extend to Diablo Immortal.

The most likely answer is that the crossover will feature cosmetics, with the Dragon Slayer sword and Berserker Armor appearing. It’s less likely that creatures from the series will appear as foes, especially as the God Hand (the main villains of Berserk) have yet to actually be properly fought in the manga.

Berserk creator Kentaro Miura passed away in 2021, with the series being continued by his friend Kouji Mori. Miura’s work inspired a lot of creators, especially in the world of video games, and it’s a tragedy that he didn’t get to see this crossover in the flesh. The spirit of Berserk lives on, and hopefully, Diablo IV will do it justice.
