Upon leaving Kalm and entering the first region of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, players will be able to mix and match their companions to make the ideal party. Along with Cloud, there can be two additional party members in active combat.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Is A Clearly A Sequel. Here’s Why
The Whisperers hint that Final Fantasy 7 Remake may be more than just a reimagination of the original game’s story.
Players are also able to switch out the two additional party members on the fly outside of combat, and thanks to XP share, they are each viable to use at any point. While every party member is powerful and has their uses, some are just a bit better than others and work well with specific party members.

What Makes A Good Party
While every fight and boss fight is different in some way, the universal goal in a fight is to Pressure your enemy to then build up Stagger to leave them open for more damage for a short time. Pressuring enemies can be done by hitting a Weakness, which will often require a wide range of elemental coverage to be ready for whatever element is needed. Each party member has a role, and the best composition is a party that hits each of pressuring, staggering, then dealing damage.
The Best Party Composition
While Cloud is a required member, the best part is him being accompanied by Tifa and Red XIII. Both of these characters focus heavily on physical damage, Pressuring, and Staggering enemies. While magic is powerful, Red XIII and Cloud can cover elemental weaknesses with Materia, while Tifa focuses purely on applying Stagger.
After Staggering an enemy, these two characters also have a very high base damage output, and will be able to properly capitalize on a Stagger to deal large amounts of damage quickly. Red XIII’s ATB should be saved up to utilize his Stardust Ray ability, leaving Cloud to be the main magic user for a fight. While not his best role, he can get the unlimited MP boost from the Synergy Attack Synchro Cyclone with Tifa to make up for his lacking magic damage with unlimited spells for a time. This attack is also one of the first upgrades players can purchase in Tifa’s Folio.

Other Good Parties
Another powerful party is Tifa and Aerith. Aerith is able to use her magic and an Arcane Ward to double up the amount of spells she uses to Pressure enemies quicker; with Tifa going in to Stagger them after. This party starts off a bit slower due to low-level Materia but can have Aerith deal incredible amounts of damage after getting tier 3 spells.
Another more safe party to use is Yuffie and Barret. With Barret’s high HP and taunt ability, he can keep Cloud and Yuffie safe for most of a battle. This party is heavily reliant on how players build and play Yuffie, as her elemental abilities and Materia will determine how effective this party is at taking down enemies. While this party won’t be as efficient in combat, Barret is a safe option to make sure the party is harder to wipe out in a single powerful attack.
No matter how powerful your party is, they’ll need to level up quickly to be powerful. Also, leveling up the party level will help unlock new abilities and Synergy Attacks for everyone.
