There are two main things that need to happen before you’ll be able to get your hands on the recipe for Herbarium Major Realm Card in Nightingale. First, you’ll need to reach a gear score of 50. Second, you’ll need to complete the Herbarium Site of Power.
Nightingale: How To Return To Previous Realms
Wondering if you can go back to a realm after leaving in Nightingale? Here’s a guide to help out.
Just like the Antiquarian and Astrolabe Sites of Power, the Herbarium Site of Power is also protected by a barrier at the door that can only be passed through once you meet the minimum gear requirement. Here’s what you need to do.

How To Reach 50 Gear Score
To reach Gear Score 50, we’ll need to craft a full set of Refined Gear (Tier 2 items). These items can only be crafted on a Refined Workbench (Tools) and a Refined Sewing Bench (Clothes). Recipes for Refined stations can be purchased from the Essence Traders in Provisioner Realms.
During the course of the main story, you’ll be guided towards the lawman Bass Reeves in the Provisioner Forest Realm, who gives you the recipe for the Lancaster pistol, a vastly better ranged weapon than the Slingbow. You’ll need T1 Essence to buy all Refined benches from the Essence Trader. If you don’t have enough, complete the local Fae Tower and complete the Points of Interest on the map to earn more. Once you’re ready, head to the Herbarium site of power in your home realm.
How To Beat Fabled Automaton Knight
The entrance to the Herbarium Site of Power appears a little ways off the ground. You’ll need to climb on the tilted ramp that leads up to the barrier (pictured above). Climbing Picks are a requirement for reaching the door. If you’re having trouble, try switching to 3rd-person view to alter the perspective.
Inside this site of power is a spiraling tower with staircases that go up. Follow the path and defeat the bound until you reach the top. Active the button to summon the boss of this area: Fabled Automaton Knight. The boss will summon smaller, metal minions that deal massive damage when they come near you. Defeat the minions first before focusing on the boss. The Mining Pick is the best weapon for this fight, as both the robots and the Automaton Knight are vulnerable to it.
The boss has two main attacks.
- Sword Slash: The Automaton Knight slashes two times at the player in quick succession, pushing them back. This is troublesome to deal with because if this attack lands on you, there is a high chance you’ll fall off the side of the arena to your death. Keep a finger ready to press the Umbrella hotkey at a moment’s notice and avoid the slashes by circling around the knight.
- Red Beam: The Knight fires a medium-range beam of red particles, dealing consistent damage. If you remain in the path of the beam for more than a split second, it’ll melt through you. Either stay out of range when you see the knight preparing the beam or circle around.
After you defeat the Fabled Automaton Knight, interact with the lost echo to claim the recipe for the Herbarium Realm Card.
How To Craft Herbarium Realm Card
Herbarium Card can be crafted at a Refined Enchanter’s Focus (recipe available at Provisioner Realm Essence Traders). However, it requires rarer materials than the Astrolabe and Antiquarian cards. Here is where to find everything.
- Coated Paper x1: Make Fabric at a Refined Spinning Wheel, use that to make Coating at a Refined Mortar Station, and use that to make Coated Paper at a Refined Saw Table.
- Vibrant Ink x1: Get Sulpher and Coal to make Gunpowder at a Refined Masonry Bench and combine Gunpowder and Ink to make Vibrant Ink at a Refined Mortar Station.
- Essence Dust x25: Extract from surplus materials.
With that, you should be able to craft your very own Herbarium Card. Play it with a Desert Card at a portal to complete the quest.
The Herbarium Site of Power is not an easy one to complete if you’re not sufficiently prepared. To help get ready for the fight, try reading our how to upgrade workbench and how to get slingbow ammo guides.
Nightingale: How To Use Augments
Augmentations are a core but poorly explained part of Nightingale. Here is a guide on how they work.
