With a 92 on Metacritic and 91 on OpenCritic, it’s the highest-rated new release of 2025 so far. And much of that buzz came from creators who championed the game’s surreal spaces and enigmatic systems.

Now those same creators are being punished by automated systems that are flagging the game’s original music. Their videos are getting demonetized and others taken down entirely:

A few days ago, Dogubomb pushed Blue Prince Patch 1.01, a solid update that smoothed out performance hiccups across the board.

But just as the players started celebrating, a strange new problem emerged. Streamers and YouTubers began getting hit with copyright claims. The culprit? Blue Prince’s haunting, piano-driven soundtrack.

Dogubomb has acknowledged the issue on X and confirmed it’s not intentional.

“This is not a deliberate action of ours or the composer, we are working to get this reversed as soon as possible.”

Meanwhile, devs point creators to the Raw Fury guidelines, which technically allow full monetization of gameplay but include specific rules around music.

For example, creators must credit composers and performers where required, or mute the soundtrack entirely. The latter is a harsh ask for a game where the atmosphere is the experience.

And that’s what makes this sting.

Blue Prince is the kind of game that lives and dies on mood. The shifting architecture, the ambient dread, and the way a simple piano melody lingers just long enough to make you paranoid. Asking players to strip that out for safety is like asking a horror streamer to play in silence.

In the latest patch, the overly punishing RNG has been tuned to offer more consistent rewards. The elusive Battery Pack, crucial for reaching Room 46 in the Antechamber, now spawns more reliably. So do the high-value Outer Rooms, which were previously so rare that many players missed them entirely.

Save data is more stable now, too. Patch 1.01 fixes a bug that would overwrite previous saves when starting a new game. To ensure stability, Dogubomb has temporarily disabled the Backup, Restore, and Duplicate Save File features while it works on a longer-term solution.

Unfortunately, it’s not the update that’s making headlines right now. The game’s first-ever patch was supposed to fix its biggest frustrations. Instead, it’s triggered a new one aimed directly at the very people who helped it blow up in the first place.

Dogubomb says a fix is coming. But for now, if you’re planning to stream Blue Prince, you might want to turn the volume down.
