The Indian team locked horns against New Zealand in game 12 of the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025. Both sides faced off at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on March 2, and just ahead of the game, India skipper Rohit Sharma etched his name in an unwanted list. 

It is worth noting that Rohit lost the toss yet again as New Zealand won and opted to field first. The toss being lost meant that this was Rohit Sharma’s 10th consecutive lost toss as skipper. He took third place in the list of captains with the most consecutive tosses lost. 

It is interesting to note that Rohit Sharma last won the toss when India took on New Zealand in the semi-final of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Ever since then, he has lost every single toss, and his dreadful run has continued into the Champions Trophy 2025 as well. 

However, it does seem like losing the toss has not affected Rohit and his side that much. Despite not being able to choose whether to bat or bowl first, the Men in Blue have been putting in exceptional performances, and have not lost a game in the Champions Trophy so far. The side have won clashes against Bangladesh and Pakistan so far in the tournament, and will hope for another good showing against New Zealand despite having lost the toss.
