The Dark Urge has no memories and only the urge to kill, with players uncovering the mysteries behind their background throughout the game. After a few long rests, the Tiefling Bard Alfira will come to camp and request to join the party; accepting her will see her meeting a quick and brutal fate.
How To Get Away With It
Taking a long rest with Alfira in the camp is a death sentence for her. The Dark Urge will wake up in the middle of the night having killed the bard, and whether or not the character accepts what they did, some action needs to take place. There are two ways to completely get away with it, with the first being to hide the body.
Hiding the body and succeeding in the stealth roll will make your character get away with the murder, and they will not be questioned by their companions. The next option is to completely wash the blood off your hands and succeed in a deception check the following morning. This second option is more risky as the party will suspect it was your character, and this may come up later if they get caught killing again.
Those who either failed certain rolls or decided to face the party as they are will be met with heavy disapproval from all active party members. Despite committing murder, the party will brush it off as the tadpole and will swear to keep an eye on you in the future, making the party turning on The Dark Urge later on much more likely.

Rewards For The Kill
Even if the player turned Alfira away, another bard would take her place and be murdered, with this being the first important kill for The Dark Urge no matter what. Take one more long rest after these events, and the player will be woken up in the middle of the night and meet Sceleritas Fel, who will be their guide on the journey of The Dark Urge. He will also reward the player with The Deathstalker Mantle, which turns the player invisible for two turns after killing an enemy.
