Celestial Peaen is the Mage Maister skill that can be learned both by you and your Pawn in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Unlike most skills in the game, however, learning Celestial Peaen requires you to complete the Spellbound side quest in a very specific way.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: How To Unlock Magick Archer

The Magick Archer is one of the best Vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2, but it’s very difficult to figure out how to unlock it. Let us be your guide.

Failing to complete the Spellbound quest in the way the game wants you to will result in players getting locked out of getting Celestial Peaen and forced to wait for New Game+. Here is what you need to do.

How To Get Celestial Peaen

Celestial Peaen is a quest reward for completing the Spellbound quest in DD2. Give 3 ‘real’ Grimoires to Trysha and talk to Eini afterward. Eini will give you the Enchanter’s Almanac. Use the Almanac from your inventory, and both you and your Pawn will learn the Celestial Peaen spell.

While the quest does say to give her 5 books, you only need 3 to get all the quest rewards (including Celestial Peaen).

It’s important you give Trysha the real Grimoires so this quest can be completed properly. However, if you gave the real copies of all five books to Myrddin for the Sorcerer’s Appraisal quest, don’t panic, you can still find other, original copies of the Grimoires from other sources. I’ve found two real copies of Howling Blizzard and two copies of Nation’s Death Knell (locations below) so it is completely possible there may be more copies of the other books floating around.

Grimoire

Location

Nation’s Death Knell

  1. Compete Tolled To Rest and return to where Oskar rings the bell to find a copy of Nation’s Death Knell.
  2. Enter the Waterfall cave and reach the second floor. Open the chest in the center to get a copy of Nation’s Death Knell.

Howling Blizzard

  1. Offer Wendy in the Nameless Village a fake copy of Fulminous Shield (make a forgery).
  2. Enter the Waterfall cave and reach the second floor. Open the chest in the center to get a copy of Howling Blizzard.

Towering Earth

Talk to Waldhar in the Gracious Hands underground vaults after completing ‘The Caged Magistrate’ and ‘The Heel of History’ to get a copy of Towering Earth.

Let There Be Light

Enter Myrddin’s house from the balcony and loot the table to find a copy of Let There Be Light.

Fulminous Shield

Buy from Dudley at Melve. This trader is just standing directly in front of the village’s entrance.

If you haven’t given Myrddin any books, there is no reason to wait to find original copies of the books for him. Just find 3 original tomes and have Ibrahim at the Scrap Store make forgeries of all of them and give them to Myrddin. He doesn’t check the books’ authenticity and will give you all the quest rewards right then and there.

If you sold the books to a merchant or discarded them to reduce carryweight, check at Ibrahim’s Scrap Store after a few days. It might show up.

If you’re not able to find 3 real books by the time you reach the end game, just go over to New Game+ and redo the Spellbound quest to get Celestial Peaen.

Dragon's Dogma 2 Short-Sighted Ambition Walkthrough feature image

Completing the Short-Sighted Ambition quest in Bakbattahl and obtaining the ‘good’ ending will give you two Grimoires: On the Transference of Souls 1 and On the Transference of Souls 2. Combining these tomes in your inventory will give you ‘On the Transference of Souls.’ Using this tome will let you cast Celestial Peaen. However, like all tomes, this is a one-time-use item. Meaning when you use it you’ll cast Celestial Peaen automatically, and the tome will disappear. Neither you nor your Pawn will learn the skill associated with it.

How To Use Celestial Peaen

Celestial Peaen is a somewhat situational spell that really only shines in the hands of a Pawn. When cast, it creates a massive umbrella of light high in the sky and all allies underneath get a massive boost to stamina and health regeneration, and increases damage resistance. It is the ultimate support spell, but the downside of it is that it drains the caster’s stamina completely, rendering them extremely vulnerable.

Casting it yourself while playing as a Mage doesn’t feel too good because Pawn AI is not smart enough to take advantage of the increased Stamina regeneration. But if a Pawn in your party casts it, you can use it to spam high stamina consumption skills, getting the most out of the spell. I found it extremely useful when combined with the Mystic Spearhand Maister Skill ‘Wind Furie’, as that skill can be spammed and consumes a ton of stamina very quickly. Make sure to have at least one Fighter or Warrior in your party who can attract monsters away from the Pawn who is going to cast Celestial Peaen; otherwise, they’ll be taken down very quickly.
